ISO14001 Audit and a Site Survey

This week has been a very exciting week for sustainability here at Trident. We have had a site survey to look into getting solar panels for the office and our first audit for our ISO14001 accreditation.

What are the benefits of solar panels?

Solar panels are a great option for generating clean, renewable energy in a relatively low maintenance way that will save you money in the long run on your energy bills and significantly reduce your carbon emissions. The initial installation is expensive, but with the rise in energy costs, the overall saving on energy bills compared to the initial expense is more than worthwhile. Relying on the sun for energy does mean that they do not work at night and not in all weathers but as a company we looked into wind turbines and found that we are not in a good location for that as it simply isn’t windy enough, so we are excited to hear the results of our site survey to see if solar panels are something that is going to work for Trident as we continue our push for renewable energy.

What is the ISO14001 accreditation?

Our ISO14001 audit took place on Thursday after many months of putting together and implementing our Environmental Management System (EMS). The ISO14001 is an international standard for implementing an effective EMS, providing a framework, and establishing environmental performance requirements, including a series of goals to help a company to have a better environmental policy and reduce its carbon footprint. Now we have had our initial audit, we are ready to start our journey to having the ISO14001 accreditation – another exciting step in our sustainability journey.

We will be updating our #sustainabilitysaturdays soon with the results from the audit and sight survey.
